The conch shell is a representative object in Buddhism, often seen as offerings or ritual implements.

The Dharma conch is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols; in addition to representing auspiciousness and perfection, the Eight Auspicious Symbols are also auspicious signs of the Buddha’s body. The Dharma conch represents the Buddha's words, and the spread of Buddhism is like the sound of a conch spreading far and wide, spreading throughout the world to save all living beings, forever and ever.

Among the eight offerings, the part that represents "joy" is the meaning of offering this wonderful sound to the Buddha to praise the purity of the Buddha's body, Dharma, and mind.

The conch shell was regarded as a rare treasure in ancient times. Legend has it that when Sakyamuni Buddha was preaching in Deer Park, Indra and others presented a white conch to the Buddha. Since then, the conch has become a symbol of auspiciousness and perfection. The conch pattern can be seen in temples, on thrones, and in the objects held by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It is especially common in Tibetan Buddhism.
